Signalong is a key word sign-supported communication system based on British sign language and is used in spoken word order. It uses speech, sign, body language, facial expression and voice tone to reference the link between sign and word.
Signalong courses are now CPD accredited so you can obtain CPD points for your portfolio by completing a Signalong course. All of our courses are covered, including Workshops (minimum of 3 hours duration) so speak to your local Tutor today about joining a course.
Is your establishment Signalong Friendly? The Signalong Friendly membership scheme is for those who are proud supporters of Signalong and would like to let others know of their commitment to provide a signing inclusive environment.
Tutor Training is for those with experience of sign-supported communication who wish to train others. The tutor training course is a comprehensive 4/5 day programme for people who have experienced of signing in the context of learning difficulties, autism or the particular field in which they need to use augmentative communication.

A child with speech and language challenges is at risk of:
• More mental health problems: 81% of children with emotional and behavioural disorders have significant speech and language challenges, often unidentified and 45% of young people referred for mental health services
• Worse literacy and numeracy: 6x more likely to be behind in English, 11x more likely to be behind in Maths at 11 years with only 15% gaining a 9-5 pass at GCSE in English and Maths.
• Increased risk of offending: At least 60% of young offenders have language difficulties.• Less secure employment: 2x more likely to experience insecure employment as adults.
Signalong are delighted to partner with NSPCC to ensure that the PANTS message is available to those who rely on Signalong to communicate. The colourful PANTS Rules incorporate realistic drawings and signs which are readily available to those who currently use Signalong.
