Signalong provides training and resources to assist those with communication difficulties and English as an additional language.

Signalong is a key word sign-supported communication system based on British sign language and is used in spoken word order. It uses speech, sign, body language, facial expression and voice tone to reference the link between sign and word.

You will be able to research signs with drawings to enhance your understanding (where available) and create your very own reference library.  Signalong Scholarship

Once again we are inviting applications for The 2017 Signalong Scholarship. To express an interest, please email with a brief outline stating why they should receive the scholarship and the #opportunities that the award would provide in becoming a Signalong.

Candidates may be required to attend an interview and give a short presentation on the use of sign-supported #communication.Closing date is August 31st 2017. Please note only short listed applicants will be contacted.

Support for Parents

Unlike British Sign Language training or that provided by some other organisations, Signalong training focuses on developing communication skills rather than teaching blocks of signs, many of which will be quickly forgotten through lack of use.

Tutor Training

Tutor Training is for those with experience of sign-supported communication who wish to train others. The tutor training course is a comprehensive 4/5 day programme for people who have experienced of signing in the context of learning difficulties, autism or the particular field in which they need to use augmentative communication.
